Police probe £50k jewellery raid

POLICE are seeking witnesses after a jewellery haul worth more than £50,000 was taken in a break-in at a Dumfries home.

The raid happened between Saturday June 20 and Friday July 10 in Pleasance Avenue — a busy through road on the west side of the River Nith.

Detectives say the high value haul included a tanzanite and diamond ring, bracelet and necklace, an emerald and diamond ring, bracelet and necklace, pearl necklaces and a number of diamond rings and earrings.

A sum of money was also taken by the intruder or intruders.

Detective Constable Lorna Douglas of Dumfries Police said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in Pleasance Avenue, in the area around Troqueer Primary School, over this period.”
