Police hunt hit-and-run driver

POLICE are hunting for a hit-and-run driver after colliding with four people in Dumfries.

Officers confirmed that they were called to Poplar Road, Dumfries, at around 4.50 pm on Tuesday, June 1, after a vehicle was reported to have hit four people and then drove off.

Three of the victims have been taken to hospital for treatment. Police say they are still trying to trace the driver.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Poplar Road, Dumfries, at around 4.50pm on Tuesday, 1 June, 2021, following a road traffic crash.

“A car is reported to have collided with four people and left the scene.

“Three people were taken to hospital for treatment. Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and vehicle involved in the crash.”
