Police appeal after junction crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road crash on the outskirts of Annan on Wednesday.

At about 1.25 pm emergency services responded to an incident where a white Fiat Doblo van, driven by a 65-year-old man, was in collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa car, driven by a 57-year-old woman, at the junction of the B721 and B724, known locally as Howes Corner.

As a result, both vehicles were badly damaged.

A female passenger in the Doblo van and the driver of the Corsa were removed from their vehicles by fire and rescue personnel and taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary by ambulance.

The driver of the Corsa suffered a broken kneecap, a hand injury and soft tissue damage and the passenger in the van also suffered soft tissue damage, although the driver of the van was uninjured.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services worked at the scene.

Constable Ryan McGarvey said: “We are keen to speak to anyone that witnessed this collision that has not already spoken to police.

“Anyone with any information or dashcam footage should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1894 of July 4.”
