FIRE-FIGHTERS were busy assessing the damage of a Dalton blaze today.

INVESTIGATORS have stated that a blaze in a rural property in Mid Annandale is not being treated as suspiscious.

Crews from Dumfries, Lockerbie and Annan were called to a blaze next to Dalton Pottery at 2.10 pm on Thursday.

The crews were in action fighting what was described as ‘a substantial’ fire and the B725 was closed between Dalton and Carrutherstown.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also set up a 200 metre exclusion zone around the area.

A man was taken to by ambulance to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.
