Pavilion plans revealed

A SPORTS pavilion in Moffat could be demolished and replaced with an upgraded facility - if councillors agree.

The Moffat Sports Partnership has submitted a planning application to demolish the existing pavilion at Beechgrove to make way for a larger pavilion with better facilities.

And the partnership, which is mainly comprised of members of the town’s tennis and bowling clubs, says the new pavilion would allow the partnership to host regional and national championship events.

A design and access statement submitted as part of the application reads: “The existing pavilion is extremely modest in size with showering facilities and is in bad repair.

“The partnership have therefore come to the conclusion that the best long term solution would be to make the application for a new pavilion on the site.”

If approved, the new pavilion would include home and away changing facilities, including accessible changing rooms, storage rooms, a kitchen area and a large circulation and social space.
