Oil thefts appeal

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a string of cooking oil thefts locally. A blue Ford Transit van was stopped by officers early this morning in Dumfries, where they discovered barrels of cooking oil from restaurants and cafes. A Police Scotland stated: "Our initial enquiries have identified a number of business premises who have had these barrels stolen. "We encourage business owners to check their stocks of old and new cooking oils to ensure they have not become a victim of theft. "If you have any information that may assist officers or if you have a had anything stolen, please contact 101 quoting reference 0190 of the 8th January 2025."
