Pet a pup at shopping centre
DUMFRIES shoppers will have the chance to meet a guide dog puppy on Saturday.
Guide Dogs Scotland is inviting people to meet the puppies and watch them demonstrate their skills at the Loreburne Centre between 10 am – 3 pm.
Shoppers will also have a chance to speak to the volunteers who look after the pups and find out how to get involved.
Emma Brown, volunteer attraction coordinator for Guide Dogs, said: “Our puppies will be showing off their skills at 11 am and 1 pm and people can find out how the pups will grow up to change the life of someone with sight loss.
“Members of our Dumfries Fundraising Group will also be there, so it’s a great chance to meet our amazing volunteers and see if there’s a role that would fit into your own life.
“Opportunities include raising a guide dog puppy for 12-16 months, offering shorter-term homes for puppies such as when their volunteer is on holiday, and helping out even just now and again with our fundraising group.”
