There are nine categories:
Sports Personality of the Year
Young Sports Personality of the Year
Sports Team of the Year
Coach of the Year
Volunteer of the Year
Lifetime Achievement Award
Small School Sport Initiative or Performance of the Year
Large School Sport Initiative or Performance of the Year
Year of Young People Award
And a call has gone out for names of schools, teams or individuals who deserve recognition for their dedication and commitment to local sport or who had outstanding success in their sport during 2019.
Councillor Stephen Thomson, said “Dumfries and Galloway Council recognises the importance of everyone participating in local sport, whether as a competitor, a coach, a teacher, event organiser, an official, or as the volunteer doing the work behind the scenes to keep our local clubs functioning. Now is your chance to submit your nominations for the 2019 Annandale and Eskdale Annual Sports Awards.”
Forms can be downloaded from the Dumfries and Galloway Council website and the closing date for entries is Monday February 3. The awards ceremony will take place on Friday March 27 in Langholm.
