Annan and Eskdale

A DISPOSAL solution for radioactive waste still does not exist in Scotland.

That was acknowledged in a presentation in Annan on Friday on behalf of the Scottish Government.
The consultation strategy for Scotland’s policy on higher activity radioactive waste is ongoing, but the Government has stated that its policy is that long-term management of higher activity radioactive waste should be in near-surface facilities.
But with no plans for deep geological disposal facilities in Scotland, Councillor Sean Marshall said this suggested disposals would have to be made to facilities in England or Wales.
