New logo for Langholm
FRESH BRANDING. . . The Langholm Alliance's new logo imprinted on a tote bag

LANGHOLM Alliance has revealed a new logo and brand identity in an attempt to support the economic regeneration of the town.

The new logo was developed by web and graphic design agency Creatomatic, drawing inspiration from the town’s values, community spirit and heritage.

The Langholm Alliance is an umbrella community organisation approved by Scottish ministers to oversee the economic regeneration of the town by 2030.

The Muckle Toon, as it is known locally, is surrounded by stunning countryside, rolling hills, rivers and forests and boasts an inspiring textile history.

The organisation hopes the town’s new brand identity will help to boost the local economy and attract new visitors to the area.

The logo itself embodies a sense of community, drawing on Langholm’s history with textiles and taking influence from the unique Muckle Toon Tartan, which in itself takes cues from the town’s history and geography.

Langholm tourism officer Sharon Tolson said: “With so much focus on tourism in the South of Scotland driven by industry experts, the need for a unique brand identity is key for Langholm to be recognised as a destination for visitors who play an important part in contributing to the local economy.”

Paul Gardner, designer at Creatomatic, said: “Being a local lad, it was great to be asked to design a new logo and brand identity for the town.

“We’ve seen this kind of work really lift small towns like Langholm in past projects by helping them stand out from the crowd and showcasing all that’s unique about them.

“We hope the new logo is something the local community can be proud of.”
