Mysterious white smoke sparks investigation

UNIDENTIFIED white smoke pouring from an excavation site is being investigated by specialists.

Police Scotland report that emergency services are in attendance at Tongland, Dam, Tongland, Kirkcudbright, dealing with an incident which happened earlier today.

A spokesman said: “During excavation work at the site white smoke was observed coming from an unearthed site.

“The roadway at the scene has been closed at this time and there are diversions in place.

“There is no risk to the general public and investigations are being conducted at this time to establish the source of the smoke.”

Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.

Motorists are asked to avoid using the Old Military Road from Tongland to Castle Douglas.
