Medal marks milestone for rower

VETERAN rower Gordon Kerr passed a medal milestone at an event in Belgium.

The Nithsdale oarsman travelled to Begium to take part in his 8th World Masters event.
While there, he won his 11th medal notched up during eight trips to Masters competitions across Europe.
And it moved his overall wins from his 57 years of competing in sculling and rowing to 456.
Gordon’s most recent victory came in a mixed quad event alongside John Appleby from Durham, Gill Prescott from Durham and Eva Rankin from Loch Lomond.
It is the third time in a row he has been part of the winning team in this event.
However, Gordon did not fare so well in the single scull, coming third after leading for three quarters of the race –  but his expectations of winning were low not having raced much this year.
Next year he moves into another age group, 70yrs.
