A MAN was killed when his car spun off the M74 and hit a tree last night.

The 54-year-old from Lancashire, who has not been named, died in the collision near Kirkpatrick Fleming just after 10 pm.

His black BMW was the only vehicle involved.

Police are investigating and have appealed for witnesses. Sergeant Bob McNay, of the Lockerbie Trunk Road Patrol Group, said: “A full crash scene investigation has been carried out in order to determine the cause of this collision. Early reports received indicate that there may have been debris on the carriageway near to the scene of the collision.
