M74 crash man named

THE man who died in a crash on the M74 on Wednesday night has been named.

He was 54-year-old Mohammad Asghar from Blackburn, Lancashire.

Mr Asghar was killed after his black BMW spun off the motorway and hit a tree near Kirkpatrick Fleming just after 10 pm.

His was the only vehicle involved.

Police are investigating and have appealed for witnesses. Sergeant Bob McNay, of the Lockerbie Trunk Road Patrol Group, said: “A full crash scene investigation has been carried out in order to determine the cause of this collision. Early reports received indicate that there may have been debris on the carriageway near to the scene of the collision.

The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
