Lockerbie's answer to Calvin?

COULD Scott McWhan be Lockerbie’s answer to Calvin Harris?

The 21-year-old is preparing to launch his DJ career under the alias DJ Barney Kool Breeze.

The Lockerbie lad hopes to find fame and has set his sights on becoming the next big DJ to come out of Dumfries and Galloway.

Scott said: “In the past few years I’ve started going to dance music festivals and events.

“I love the energy and vibes amongst everyone at these places. The feeling you must get from making the room go mental must be great.”

Asked how his nerves are faring ahead of his debut, Scott said: “I’m not nervous at all, I’ve practised a bit and done a bit in other pubs with my mate DJ Rossko.”

The up and coming music maker will debut his musical stylings this month at Lockerbie’s Royal Bar.

He said: “The Royal has been a haunt of mine for years and having seen what the place can be like on Saturday nights when there are events on, it’s the ideal place to get the Lockerbie people raving.”

And Scott has already amassed a fan following with over 100 friends and counting pledging to attend his Station Road debut on March 26.

He said: “It’s great to know I have so many friends supporting me. It’s only a hobby, but me and my mates are all one big happy family who always support each other in the good times and the bad. Let’s just hope I can entertain them and the whole of Lockerbie.”

And Scott hopes his DJ skills once honed will be ‘acceptable’ in more places than just Lockerbie.

Discussing the dream, he said: “I would love to DJ anywhere that has a good crowd.

“Major festivals like Tomorrowland and Creamfields or a residency in LA would be absolutely amazing.”
