Lockerbie disaster remembered

WREATHS and floral tributes have been laid at the Lockerbie disaster memorial on the 28th anniversary of the air crash in which 270 people.

The town’s community council led the official remembrance on Wednesday with a wreath laid by secretary Doreen Jenkins, alongside others from around the world.

Many local residents also paid tribute on social media with photographs and memories.

Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell tweeted: “My thoughts with the family and friends of the the 270 victims and everyone else whose life was touched by the 1988 Lockerbie Air Disaster.” South Scotland MSP Joan McAlpine said: “Never forgotten. Twenty eight years ago today 270 people lost their lives at Lockerbie.” And NYC Aviation added: “Today, we pause to remember the 28th anniversary of the loss of #PanAm Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. #PanAm103“.
