Lochryan pipe band are looking to recruit a new pipe major

ESTABLISHED in 1932, Lochryan Pipe Band have continued to be a pivotal role within the community of Stranraer and Dumfries and Galloway.

Lochryan Pipe Band offer tutoring for beginners and competing in major championships across UK and Ireland. Most recently, the band in the season of 2018 became champion of champions both for drumming and as a band in grade 4a, successfully being upgraded to grade 3b for season 2019. In 2018 the band also created the Lochryan Developement band which is registered in 4b and allows teaching and development for younger players wanting to advance into the grade 3b band. This band has a separate pipe major and leading drummer, however, is overseen by the Grade 3b leading drummer and PM. The band has a very big support network within the non-playing committee and the local community, which helps keep the band financially stable.

The band are currently recruiting a New Pipe Major who is going to take over the Grade 3b band. They already have an existing pipe corps and full drum corps within the band. Players travelling from Ayrshire and surrounding areas from Stranraer.

The band are also looking to recruit a piping tutor for the development band/learners. This would be a paid position.

Both bands are eager to continue there recent success and we feel this would be an exciting opportunity for someone within a well-established band.
