Leo is comedy king

DUMFRIES comedian Leo Kearse has been crowned Scottish Comedian of the Year (SCOTY) 2017.

Leo triumphed after several gruelling rounds of competition, and battling against nine other finalists at the annual comedy awards night, held at Glasgow’s Rotunda Comedy Club on Sunday night. The awards were presented by Love Island host and former SCOTY finalist Iain Stirling, and the finalists played to a packed crowd before Leo took the title. He received a £1000 cash prize, and will jet off to Australia in February to perform a five week stint at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. Speaking about the win, Leo said: “I am chuffed to bits, especially after coming in second place last year. “The Rotunda Comedy Club is a fantastic venue to perform in, and Glasgow audiences are always great sports. “It really was a truly fabulous night.”
