SCHOOL pupils in Dumfries and Galloway are being urged to enter a dairy design competition.
Organisers of the Royal Highland Show, RHASS, have partnered with the Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET), to support the show’s continued drive to educate and support curious young minds about agriculture and farming and to celebrate RHET’s Year of Dairy.
Primary school pupils are invited to design a rosette that stands out from the crowd, with the winning entry being produced and presented to the dairy champions. The winner will have the opportunity to present their rosette to a winning calf at the show on the Sunday too.
Meanwhile, secondary pupils are can design their own milk bottle brand, with the winner printed on a one litre glass bottle and showcased at the Scottish Dairy Championships.
The winning pupils will each receive free tickets to the show on June 22 for their family and friends and receive a commemorative keepsake of their design.
The judging panel will be made up of three representatives from the Royal Highland Show, including RHET chairman and RHASS director, Hugh McClymont from Dumfries.
David Tennant, head of Royal Highland Show said: “The competition offers a unique opportunity to be part of the Royal Highland Show’s rich history and so we hope that many pupils across the country get on-board to be part of it. We can’t wait to see the creativity and imagination from talented students across Scotland.”
RHET’s Katrina Barclay added: “The competitions are a fantastic opportunity to showcase artistic flair to ensure designs stand out from the crowd.”
All designs must be submitted by Friday May 16 via email to [email protected]
