Ladies back to winning ways

Annan LFC 6-1 Clark Drive LFC

The game marked striker-turned-keeper Courtney Nelson’s 60th appearance for Annan Ladies.

The Black and Golds started on the front foot and were creating chances. And Jordan Mcnally sent a delightful ball into the box for Jamie-Lee Johnston to smash it into the net to give Annan the lead. However, it wasn’t long before Clark Drive had the game level again following a quick kick off.

Annan scored within three minutes after Rhian Williams finished a brilliant chance from just outside the box after Emily Hookway won the ball. It was then three when Williams turned through three players and drove to the edge of the box where she played the ball perfectly across the 18 yard line to Johnston for her second of the game. It didn’t stop there for Annan, Mcnally played a wonderful ball over the top and Hookway brought the ball down and played a ball through to Williams who drove from 35 yards out into the box and after taking a lucky deflection off of the Clark Drive keeper Williams had her second of the game.

After the interval, Annan would have to wait until the 58th minute for their fifth goal of the afternoon, when Williams hit the ball into the roof of the net for her hat trick. And it wasn’t to be the only hat trick either as Johnston grabbed hers when she slotted the ball into the top corner after Williams won the ball back from a loose pass. The win keeps Annan sixth in the table, and with two games to go it’s going to be a brilliant end to the season.

All players and staff at the game wore something pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
