Joy at surprise donation

BEATTOCK Nursery has received a £350 donation following a memorial football match.

The match was arranged in memory of Moffat man, Simon Kerr. His sister, Debbie decided to donate the money raised to various community groups, including Beattock Nursery and Moffat Gala.

Beattock Nursery teacher Ruth Lee said: “It means so much to our wee nursery, we are over the moon to have received the donation. We really didn’t expect it at all but it’s been such a nice way to finish the term.”

The school intends to hold a meeting with children, staff and parents after the summer holidays to decide how to best use the money.

Beattock Primary teacher and friend of Debbie, Gill Murray said:

“It has all come as a big surprise because sometimes Beattock can be overlooked but this means so much to us all. We hope to use the money for something sport related because Simon was a big sports fan and we’d like to include a plaque to honour him.”
