THREE-time Grammy Award nominee Joan Armatrading's Carlisle show has been cancelled.

The singer was supposed to grace the Sands Centre’s stage tonight but her performance has been cancelled.

Arts and Events Manager Jonathan Higgins said: “We were contacted early this morning by Joan’s management to advise us that she was unwell and therefore this evening’s show could not go ahead.

“We are clearly very disappointed, but wish Joan a speedy recovery.”

Customers can claim a full refund by telephoning The Sands’ Box Office on (01228) 633766.

Joan Armatrading’s management added “Every show that Joan has done in the last 30 years is

treated by Joan as the most important show to date. It is therefore a momentous event to cancel

a show due to illness.”

Management have informed that it is unlikely that the date will be re-scheduled.
