Dr Kate Granger, 31, who has terminal cancer, dropped into Easterbrook Hall to discuss her project which reminds healthcare staff to introduce themselves to patients.
She came up with the idea following a spell in hospital as a patient herself.
Dumfries was her only Scottish stop on a weeklong tour of 15 healthcare organisations across Britain.
She said: “I firmly believe a friendly introduction is about far more than just common courtesy but rather human connections, therapeutic relationships and building trust with patients.
“It is very exciting to be able to meet people from all over the country and spread the #hellomynameis message further.”
