Ice hockey team receives grant
SHARKS. . . The Solway Sharks Ladies Ice Hockey Club together in the rink

SOLWAY Sharks Ladies Ice Hockey team have been awarded £10,000 as part of the National Lottery Community Fund in partnership with sportscotland.

It will be used to support the team training sessions for current players, as well as continuing to offer development training sessions every Sunday.

The club has had a successful season so far, securing a spot in the playoff final weekend, so this funding will help go toward the cost of this for the players.

Club treasurer Amanda Gardiner said: “Solway Ladies Ice Hockey Team are extremely grateful for the funding that has been provided.

“So far, we have been able to help reduce costs for players travelling to our away games, with the cost of living growing, helping to reduce travel costs has been greatly appreciated.

“In the current climate with the costs of everything going up, it is truly amazing to receive financial support which we are continuing to use to make things better for the current team and to make things affordable for all.”
