Hitting the high peaks

FIFTEEN staff from a Lochmaben firm have been on top of the world . . . two times.

The team from Russell Roof Tile’s Halleaths site conquered two of Britain’s trickiest climbs for charity.
They scaled Ben Nevis and followed it up the next day with a trek up Scafell Pike in the Lake District in aid of Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.
They were joined in their adventure by colleagues from the firm’s Burton on Trent site.
DG Blood Bikes is the company’s charity of the year and production director Bruce Laidlaw said: “This is our first major fundraising event for D&G Blood Bikes. It was great to have our staff come together for it.
“By the end of the year our aim is to raise even more money towards Blood Bikes’ ongoing need for new motorbikes, satnavs and high visibility blood bike jackets to keep the charity running. It means a world of difference to them, and indeed to us all and our communities, in saving lives.”
The staff at Russell Roof Tiles will continue to raise money across the year with activities including a 1500m run, swimming and also a 20km bike ride.
