Hattrick for hotel

A LOCKERBIE hotel has scooped two awards at a national awards ceremony.

Townhead Hotel was named the national winner for Casual Dining Hotel in Scotland and Laura McEwan won the regional award for executive chef at the Scottish Hotel Awards.

The annual awards gala dinner was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak but organisers decided to have a virtual awards night online. Results were posted during the evening by Scottish Hotel Awards chairman Gary McLean-Quin. The Townhead Hotel team were delighted to win the awards but there was an even bigger surprise to come for owner Stephen Montgomery as he was awarded a Commendation for Outstanding Industry Leadership.

Mr Montgomery said: “Over the last few years my involvement within the Scottish Licensed Trade Association has grown, as I climbed the ranks. Now as president the work is even harder than ever imagined with Covid-19 raging havoc. “This award in itself for me is very personal, but it shows recognition that our work in the association is noticed by those within the industry. It’s quite an emotional moment, but a very proud one too.”

He added: “Thank you to every single member of our team here at the Townhead Hotel for yet again showing that we are a great place, and for all your hard work and dedication. You are truly all winners.”
