GREYHOUNDS: Scots dogs on form at Gretna

SCOTS fancy Bellfield came through in the home straight to win by a length in the only 470 metres race at Halcrow Greyhound Stadium at the weekend.

The two-year-old bitch from Brian Canon of Kilmarnock snatched the honours from early leader K. C. Dream, a three-year-old bitch from the Hill kennels at Hawick.

Earlier Lanarkshire-based Horsey powered through the field to secure his fifth sprint victory in six outings.

The three-year-old dog, trained at the Kennedy kennels in Coatbridge, edged past long-time leader Drac from the Hobbs kennel at Lancaster.

In a good night for north-of-the-border entries Petite, a three-year-old from the Watson kennels at Cumnock finished three lengths in front of strongest challenger Snowie Dream from the Hill kennels at Hawick.

Finally, racing fans can check on recent form by going online to the DnG24 Gretna racing archive at www.dng24.co.uk/?s=greyhounds
