GREYHOUNDS: Metcalfe hotshots power to victory

TWO HOTSHOTS from Annan owner and trainer Ba Ba Metcalfe stormed to impressive 280 metres victories at Gretna greyhound racing on Friday night.

His first winner on the good going border track was with 18-month-old fancy Watchhall Win which flew out of the traps going on to cross the line with a three lengths lead.

Runner-up was 6/4 chance Flaming Pepper, a two-year-old bitch owned and trained by Tony Hopper of Workington.

Another young prospect from Annan’s Metcalfe kennels, Mork, confirmed his owner’s earlier prediction cruising to an impressive seven lengths victory on his first outing to Halcrow Stadium.

Runner-up was Blast, a two-year-old dog, owned and trained by Willie Hyslop of Kilmarnock.

In the following sprint race, Tony Hopper’s two-year-old bitch Nee Luking took top spot at 2/1 with the Hyslop kennels similar aged entry Brisk runner-up two lengths behind.

Later, still over the 280 metres distance, Willie Hyslop’s two-year-old dog Ready was on form finishing 2.25 lengths ahead of Wishaw-based Lily.
