Gretna Green recognised for its warm welcome

A FAMILY-RUN business beat off stiff competition to win a major business award.

Gretna Green Ltd — a top employer in Dumfries and Galloway’s wedding and tourism industry — received the Welcome of the Year 2020 award at the China Britain Business Council’s awards.

The honour sees the team at Gretna Green gain global recognition for their endless efforts in ensuring the international customers who visit their business are catered for and offer a tailored approach to their audience.

Isabel Rhodes, commercial director of Gretna Green Ltd, said: “We are thrilled to win this award, it’s fantastic recognition for the efforts our team put in to ensure we are offering a world-class service to all of our visitors.

“It is particularly exciting for Gretna Green to be recognised at an event like this, as it allows us to showcase all of the amazing work our team do and highlights what our business is doing to support both tourism and international trade within Scotland and the wider UK.”

The glitzy ceremony was held at Glasgow’s Grand Central hotel last Thursday and welcomed 300 industry delegates from across the world to celebrate achievements in trade and investment between Scotland and China.
