Greatest grotto in Scotland

A CHRISTMAS grotto has won a prestigious national award for the fourth year running.

The team behind the festive display at Hetland Garden Centre in Carrutherstown are celebrating after picking up the best in Scotland prize again at the Garden Industry awards.
Hetland owners David and Karen Wilson are thrilled to be recognised for their outstanding festive retail display.
He said: “The staff worked really hard in November to provide our customers with a magical Christmas experience and this included our Christmas grotto and Mrs Claus in her cabin telling the children stories before they entered the Ice Cave to visit Santa. We also had reindeer for the first time which proved a great hit.
“It is really rewarding to see it was appreciated and enjoyed.”
Organised by Garden Trade News, the leading publication for the garden centre industry, the annual awards ceremony celebrates and acknowledges excellence amongst garden centres as voted for by a panel of expert judges.
Beating off some competition from garden centres throughout Scotland, David and Karen’s Christmas Grotto was recognised as one of the best in the uk.
Congratulating them, garden centre expert Neville Stein said: “In the course of my work I visit a lot of garden centres and the Christmas experience at Hetland really is one of the best I have seen in many years.
“David and his team always manage to create a magical experience for their customers and so it is very pleasing to see their efforts rewarded.”
