Michelle and Simon Myatt wanted to give something back to the Dumfries and Galloway Neonatal Unit following the birth of Bradley in February.
He was born with a slight rash on his face, which soon started to spread and cause concern.
Michelle said: “He was admitted to the neonatal unit with a mysterious bacterial infection.
“This was such a scary time for Simon and I, being new parents, but as scary as it was, being admitted into the neonatal unit was a blessing in disguise. The team were fantastic, they looked after Bradley and us, constantly reassuring Simon and I and even giving us a crash course in parenting.”
Luckily Bradley’s infection soon cleared up and he was able to go home a week later and has thrived ever since.
His grateful mummy and daddy decided to hold a raffle to thank the unit for helping them and other families.
They gathered a range of prizes, including pampering, vouchers for local businesses, books, wine, food and more, and roped in family, friends and colleagues to buy lucky squares.
Their efforts raised £700 and Michelle said this week: “Thank you to everyone that took part and everyone at the neonatal, maternity and delivery suite at DGRI, plus all our friends and family for their support.”
