For Keith Jamieson was born on February 29 1932 meaning his true birthday comes round just once every four years.
Farmer Mr Jamieson, who would be turning 84 today if his birthday had fallen one day earlier or later, is celebrating with not one, but two parties.
The lucky pensioner already had a party in 1953 to mark turning 21 but his family threw him a big celebration yesterday and plan to it again tonight.
Mr Jamieson said: “I had a 21st at Eastriggs Hall many years ago and everyone says I’m very lucky to get to do it all over again, though not with as much dancing.”
Dad-of-two Mr Jamieson also revealed that is grandson will celebrate his 21st birthday this year, also in June, while two of his other grandsons have already reached the milestone birthday before him.
