Global audience for duck race

RACE fans tuned in from around the UK and abroad to enjoy the Dumfries Lions Club virtual duck race.

It attracted nearly 500 entries and was viewed online by many.

The organisers described it as “a very interesting and colourful event with the humour and encouragement of the commentators adding to the excitement”.

The winning ducks were Cutie Pie, Danish Bob and TJ Duck entered by Margaret Thomson, Bill Farries and Morag Barr, all from Dumfries, and the first prize of £100 was kindly donated back to the club by Margaret.

Following the race, a donation of £1100 has been made to the local Young Carers Project.

A club spokesman said: “We are grateful to all those who entered the race, made donations and also to the Toll Bar and Rickerby Horticulture who sponsored the event.”
