Firefighters thank factory for support

ANNAN’S retained firefighters visited the Cochran factory at Newbie last week to present a plaque as a thank you for the ongoing use of the facility as a training area.

Allan Shaw, product delivery manager at Cochran, said: “The award from the fire service was an acknowledgement of the long-standing provision of our facility for the training of new firefighters and new techniques being trialled or deployed.

“Working with and supporting the local community is very important to Cochran.

“We are a major employer in the Annan area, and we are heavily reliant on current and potential employees from the locality.

“We continue to support local charities and organisations through donations, partnership and sponsorship where practical, as this contributes positively towards inclusion and diversity for all.”

Scott Irving is the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Group Commander for Dumfries and Galloway and he said: “We are very grateful to employers like Cochran Ltd and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them for their continued support.

“Our relationship with Cochran allows our on call firefighters, who often balance their emergency role with additional employment or family life, to train locally and learn new skills within their own community.

“Ultimately, this partnership enables our on call firefighters to develop as emergency responders so they are better equipped with the knowledge and experience to continue to serve the communities in which they live and protect.”
