Festival honours diamonds of film

TWO FEMALE film fanatics from the region have curated an online film festival which is running until the end of next month.

Belle Doyle and Tabi Mudaliar, directors of the South West Media Factory CIC, carefully selected eight movies which they say “honour and celebrate the diamond women of film”.

Running until May 31, the Diamond Women Season is available on www.indyondemand.com/page/diamond-women/ and is showcasing a wide range of films including Mary and the Witch’s Flower, Varda by Agnes and the 2019 German film, Cocoon.

Belle said: “We have had a fantastic time choosing films for this season and we’re proud of the selection we have for our audiences. Over the summer, we worked with Driftwood Cinema, the Catstrand, and Cample Line to run Engage online film season, a series of online screenings and discussion panels.”

Tabi added: “Engage was so well received we decided to organise another onscreen season of films, celebrating women’s contribution to cinema across the world, looking at pioneers like Agnes Varda and Alice Guy-Blaché.”
