AN EVENING of discussions themed around an exhibition that was threatened with cancellation will instead be streamed online.

The exhibition Ode to the Oceans was created by Emily Tough, leader of the art collective We Agree on Eggs, and takes a critical look at the devastation that humans are inflicting on the world’s oceans.

It opened at Ottersburn Gallery earlier this week and a discussion evening was due to take place this evening. But rather than cancel the event in response to guidance about social distancing, Emily will be hosting a video live stream of the event on social media.

She said: “We will be hosting talks, music, poetry readings and puppetry performances out of the Ottersburn Gallery. “This is set to be a very ambient and atmospheric event and we are excited for our small group of performers to get together and share with you in this way.

“As worrying as our current situation is, I am excited to host my first event online, this is going to be a great experiment for me in finding new ways of connecting with people, but also channelling my art-form into a different format. We recommend having a paper and pencil for some responsive doodles and thoughts.”

The Ode to the Oceans event will be live streamed on the We Agree on Eggs Facebook page from 7 pm this evening.
