A FORMER child evacuee is trying to find out more about his stay in Moffat during WWII.

Dr Lionel Kopelowitz MBE was sent to safety in upper Annandale in September 1939 from Newcastle upon Tyne.
Along with his school mates, from Askham House School in Gosforth, he moved into Holm Park and thinks they were there for the remainder of the wartime.
Now 88, his memories of his time there are sketchy, but he does recall a swimming pool at the new school and remembers the Buccleuch Arms Hotel and the Moffat House Hotel.
Dr Kopelowitz, who received an MBE for his work on interfaith relations, said: “Holm Park was an empty house, how did we get it? How long were we there?
“Does anyone have any information about us?”
