Election 2021: Dumfriesshire turnout up on 2016

THE VOTER turnout in Dumfriesshire was 66 per cent this year.

This is up 6.3 per cent from 2016, when the turnout was 59.7 per cent.

Ballot counting is underway and the result is expected to be declared later today.

And sources have said it is neck and neck between the SNPs Joan McAlpine and Oliver Mundell from the Conservatives, who gained the seat from the SNP in 2016.
