Eighth time lucky for Dumfries couple

A DUMFRIES couple hope to finally tie the knot at the end of month after having to cancel their big day seven times already due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Georgie Boyle, 28, and Paul Burrell, 31, had been planning their dream wedding since getting engaged in Lanzarote nearly four years ago.

They decided to get hitched at Hetland Hall on October 10 last year but the pair were gutted when it had to be cancelled due to covid regulations.

Georgie said: “We were both gutted but knew there was so much that could change. I was convinced restrictions had to ease up at some point so kept moving the wedding six weeks at a time.

“It’s been seven times we’ve had to cancel, but there were about 16 dates floating about at one point,” Georgie laughed.

The loved up couple are both desperate to finally say ‘I do’ after a rollercoaster year of knock-backs.

The happy couple hope to tie the knot at the end of May

They will now tie the knot on May 30 with 50 guests permitted at the Hetland Hall.

Georgie said: “I’m absolutely petrified that something will happen and the wedding will be cancelled again. Paul is the most chilled out person ever but I have never been so stressed in my life. I don’t know how Paul’s putting up with me.

“The last year has honestly been a rollercoaster, we don’t know whether we are coming or going, the rules have changed that many times.”

She added: “I really feel for brides and grooms all over the country and I’m pretty sure our family and friends can’t wait for it to be over with, so I stop going on about it. Family and friends have been great keeping our spirits up.”

“I know for sure Paul cannot wait for it to be done as I have been a nightmare to live with, but at least I can admit it!”
