Ebony's teen modelling debut ends in success

A SHOCK entry into a national modelling competition has turned into success for a girl newly named 'Miss Teen Annan 2016/17.

Unknown to 18-year-old Ebony Black, her mother Nicola put her forward for the Miss Teen British Isles competition which took place in Southport at the weekend.
Mum Nicola said: “She had no idea she had been entered. I entered her after numerous friends suggested she should try modelling.”
And with Ebony finishing third in the Teen North Final, Nicola added: “She was very shocked but thrilled to have been chosen over so many entrants to even compete.
“So to get through to the nationals finals is fantastic.”
Revealing her reaction when she found out what her mother had done, with a laugh Ebony said: “I was going to kill her.”
With no experience of such a competition, she added: “I did some modelling when I was a baby, but that was about it — I had no experience at all.”
Ebony had to buy three outfits for the competition — a cocktail dress and heels, evening dress and heels and bikini and heels, and on Sunday found herself in a hotel taking to the catwalk among other girls with a variety of experience in competition.
She said: “I kinda thought when I got there it was maybe people who had never done it before, but some had, so to get third out of that was quite shocking — I had no idea I was going to get it.”
As a result of her success, Ebony progresses through to the the national final which takes place in Chester in June.
However, the theatrical make-up student at Carlisle College is planning to be better prepared for the June challenge.
She said: “I’m going to learn how to walk in heels properly; I have no idea how to walk in heels.”
