Drop in NHS attacks

THE NUMBER of assaults directed at NHS staff in Dumfries and Galloway halved during the pandemic.

New data reveals there were 57 incidents where personnel working for the local health board were assaulted last year – down from 114 in 2019.

And of the 57 attacks, just two were subsequently reported to the police.

Furthermore, the most recent figure is the first time since 2016 there were fewer than 100 assaults recorded.
