Double green win for college

DUMFRIES and Galloway College is celebrating a double victory at the prestigious Green Gown Awards 2021.

The South of Scotland college saw off tough competition in both the Campus of the Future and Benefiting Society (Small Institution) categories.

In the Campus of the Future category, Dumfries and Galloway College took home the prize for creating a learning environment that allows learners to access green skills and technology in an accessible and forward-thinking way.

Meanwhile, the prize for Benefitting Society was given in recognition of the college’s Making the Most of the Coast initiative which saw students create works of photography and animation themed around the issue of marine plastics and the devastating impact they have.

College principal Joanna Campbell said: “The Green Gown Awards represent the very best in green skills and technology and so for our college to win again, in two highly competitive categories, is a wonderful moment for us.

“We are rightly proud of the exciting, productive, and innovative work that we have done to make sure that our college is fit for the future and of the meaningful contribution that we are making to the fight against climate change.

“I would like to send my personal thanks to everyone who has made these awards possible for us.”
