Dog charity in Xmas plea

The charity, based at Glencaple, is hoping that people will consider sponsoring its supported adoption scheme dogs as an alternative present for family and friends. A number of dogs live very happily in family homes following time spent at the centre, but due to age and/or ill-health, they will always need additional veterinary care. As a result, these dogs would most likely never find a “forever home” if the charity did not agree to pay for the additional costs throughout their lifetimes. A spokeswoman said: “This is, of course, a high cost for the centre to bear, but when we see how happy these dogs are in their homes, we know it is a cost worth paying. To help us, we are hoping that people may decide to sponsor a year’s support instead of a gift to those on their Christmas shopping list this year.” Further information is available at www.caninerescue.co.uk.
