Demolition bid for village flats

DEMOLITION is on the cards for two empty blocks of flats in Ecclefechan.

Wheatley Homes are applying for permission to knock down the buildings at Caven Place and Bluebell Court in the village.

They say both sites have been unoccupied for a considerable length of time and have fallen into significant disrepair.

The housing group are considering potential redevelopment options for the site, and are planning to discuss their plans with Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Explaining further, a Wheatley Homes South spokesperson this week said: “We’re still looking at a number of different options for the area.

“Ecclefechan forms part of the exciting regeneration plans we have for Dumfries and Galloway.

“This includes building 1000 new affordable homes across the region and working with partners to improve the local infrastructure, establish better transport links and create jobs and training opportunities for our customers.”
