Creative courses to launch

A NEW programme offering professional development to those in the region’s creative sector will be launched next week.

DG Unlimited is behind the ‘Leaders Unlimited 2020’ scheme, the first of its kind.

And at Moat Brae on Wednesday, DG Unlimited chair Cathy Agnew, pictured above, will introduce the Leaders Unlimited Cohort of 2020; ten creatives from around the region who will be taking part. Guest speaker at the first workshop will be Graeme Galloway, of DYW, who will be sharing his experiences and inspiring the group with his skills and knowledge as a well-known and respected leader.

Explaining more about the programme, Cathy said: “Funded by Creative Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council, and The Holywood Trust, it offers a unique training experience designed especially for creatives. Using innovative personal reflection and creative development techniques, creative activities to develop leadership skills and one to one mentoring, the Creatives Unlimited team have developed a creative, engaging, fun programme which will be facilitated by members of the team and delivered by a range of artists, creative professionals, and partners from Dumfries and Galloway and across Scotland.”

The course will run over six months and include working with a mentor; six workshops and visits, a residential, self led learning, group work, creative mini projects; peer education; partner networking; information sharing. Members will go to galleries, and community arts and creative projects, make connections and build networks, learn from each other, and be inspired.

DG Unlimited hopes to offer the course annually.
