Crash victim named

THE man who died after a road traffic crash on the A76 near Dumfries on Saturday has been named.

He was James Dalkin, 61, from the Larkhall area.

Mr Dalkin was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle north on the A76 at Dumfries when the motorcycle was involved in a collision with another vehicle at about 4.20 pm.

He was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, but died a short time after admission.

The 38-year-old male driver of the other vehicle involved was uninjured.

Sergeant Jonny Edgar at the Road Policing Unit in Dumfries is appealing for witnesses to the crash and can be contacted via telephone number 101, quoting incident number 2809 of 6 October 2018.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
