Covid-19 daily update

THE Scottish Government has revealed there are now 16 people who have tested positive for coronavirus in Dumfries and Galloway.

That’s a rise of three since yesterday. The locations of those affected has not been given.

The daily figures are released at 2 pm every day. To date, there are 416 positive tested cases across Scotland and ten people have now died of the virus.

As part of the fight against corona, visiting has been suspended at the region’s hospitals, care homes are closed to visitors and GP surgeries have switched to pre arranged appointments only.

Meanwhile, pupils have been sent home from the region’s schools, which will reopen on Thursday for the children of key workers and vulnerable youngsters only. Approximately 1600 pupils are thought to be eligible.

Private nurseries across the area will also be open and offering childcare and wrap around care.
