Costumiers open their design doors

MIND blowing costumes are one of the highlights of this weekend’s Spring Fling open studios event.

The public will be able to view 30 outfits created by performer and costume designer Alex Rigg for arts, dance and music events including the Wickerman Festival and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay show.
It is the first time he has ever opened his Moniaive studios and he said: “People normally only get to see the costumes as part of a performance, and often from a distance, so we wanted to give them a chance to get up close.
“I’m really looking forward to being able to chat to people and answer their questions.”
The studio will also host photography by his partner Florencia Garcia Chafeun and on Saturday afternoon Alex’s Oceanallover company will be there rehearsing for their latest performance.
Spring Fling runs from May 28-30 and will feature 94 painters, photographers, potters, jewelers, glassmakers, sculptors, printmakers and others across the region.ocean costumes
