College lecturer shortlisted for education award

A MEMBER of staff at Dumfries & Galloway college has been shortlisted for the Herald Higher Education awards.

Nominated for the ‘Outstanding contribution of a staff member’ category by other staff members in the college, Penny Humphreys is a visual communication lecturer.

Penny was not only selected for her work on a myriad of live projects with her students, but for developing strong links with the local community and for her consistent positive impact on those around her.

Principal of Dumfries and Galloway college Joanna Campbell said; “Penny is an incredibly talented lecturer and her example is one that all of us in education can look to for inspiration.

“These awards celebrate the very best in further and higher education in Scotland, and that sums up Penny’s contribution to our college.

“I want to send Penny my personal congratulations and wish her the very best of luck at the award.”

When asked for a comment, Penny stated; “I am delighted to be nominated for these awards by my colleagues.

“The Herald Higher Education Awards are very highly regarded in Scottish education and so to be nominated is an honour in itself.

“I look forward to attending the awards event and thank the college for all their support.”

The Herald Higher Education Awards take place on Tuesday 21 May 2022.
