College celebrations

STUDENTS at Dumfries and Galloway College’s Dumfries campus have celebrated their success with two summer graduation ceremonies.

And the graduations, held last week, were the first for new principal Joanna Campbell, who made an inspirational speech at both morning and afternoon ceremonies.

At the celebrations, held in Crichton Memorial Church, students were presented with the HNC and HND certificates in subjects including creative industries, business and accounting, computing, and sports. In addition to the academic qualifications, the proceedings also included the presentation of a range of prizes, including the Crichton Foundation Prize to Alisa Paton, The Lions Club Bowl to Chloe Burns, and the John Robertson Cup to Mark Paterson. Attendees at the ceremonies were also treated to refreshments and a buffet in Easterbrook Hall afterwards.

Joanna Campbell, said: “It was a pleasure to join my colleagues and our students in Dumfries for these wonderful celebrations. “To be with them as they received their awards, and in such beautiful surroundings, for this first graduation in my time here was a very special experience indeed. I would like to reiterate my personal congratulations to all of our graduates and assure them that all of us at Dumfries and Galloway College will be behind them every step of the way as them embark on their futures.”
